FAQ's
We answer some of the most commonly asked questions about video consultations
What can the service help me with?
If you're struggling to get an appointment with your regular GP, a one-off video or phone consultation with a clinician could be the answer to your problems.
WellMedic Rx Consultation service offers you access to book medical advice, seven days a week at a time and a place convenient to you.
We can prescribe medications so long as the prescriber feels the prescription is indicated and complies with the appropriate guidelines. We cannot issue prescriptions for controlled drugs and in most instances, we will not be able to issue repeat prescriptions as we will be unable to provide you with continuity of care.
How do I pick up my private prescription?
Following the consultation if a prescription is necessary, you will be provided a code which can be taken to any pharmacy who will be able to download and dispense the prescription.
What if my concerns can't be diagnosed over video call?
A video consultation is not appropriate in every situation, and we'll ask you a series of questions before we confirm your booking to make sure it's the right option for you.
If we feel your concern is urgent or can't be addressed virtually, we will say so, and we'll direct you to a service better placed to help you.
If you do make a booking, we may request photos and lots of detail from you to make sure we get the fullest picture possible.
If you do have a video appointment and your clinician feels you need to see a healthcare professional in person, they will advise you on the best course of action.
Do I need private health insurance to access WellMedic Rx Consultations?
No, you don't need private medical insurance to access the private consultation. You simply pay the one-off fee each time you need an appointment.
How much does a private consultation cost?
Our private consultations cost £25 for a 30-minute appointment with a clinician.
How much does a private prescription cost?

What happens if I miss my appointment?
You will not be eligible for a refund for missed appointments. If you think you are going to miss your appointment, you can cancel up to 4 hours before your appointment start time for a refund. If you cancel less than 4 hours before, we will not be able to process the refund. Appointments can be re-scheduled up to 2 hours before the booked time slot.
Who can access the online Consultation service?
Any UK resident where proof of ID can be provided. Some services will only be provided to patients 18 years and over.
Will my NHS medical records be accessed?
In some instances we may require access to your NHS medical records in order to confirm suitability for a particular treatment and to provide accurate advice. Consent will always be obtained prior to accessing and sharing your records, with your G.P practice.
